Why is my child struggling with reading?

The answer could be dyslexia.  Dyslexia is characterized by difficulty with reading and spelling. Dyslexics also tend to read less so this limits the growth of their vocabulary. Yet many dyslexic children are bright and often capable or even gifted in areas that do not require strong language skills.

Welcome to Clear Connections Tutoring for dyslexia near Huntsville, Al. My name is Cindy Henson and I am a trained dyslexia tutor specializing in the Orton Gillingham approach.  I have also personally experienced the struggles of dyslexia as a result of my son being dyslexic.

I provide private, multisensory, structured tutoring in the areas of reading, spelling and handwriting.  I teach all three of these areas simultaneously. Your child will receive individualized instruction according to his or her needs. I work closely with you, as parents, in order to best help your child. I believe that it is very important to build a positive, encouraging relationship with your child. As a parent who was once searching for answers and direction for my son, I understand. As a specially trained Orton Gillingham tutor, I can help.

I offer private tutoring in my home which provides a relaxed setting where children feel comfortable. The children even love reading to my dog, Rolex, and he loves it as well!

A minimum number of 2 sessions each week is necessary for the instruction to be effective.

Each session lasts 1 hour.

Please contact me for rates, available time slots, and more information regarding tutoring for your child. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
